Mt. Hope Cemetery is a very large old cemetery opening in 1836 and is the oldest Municipal Victorian Cemetery in America. There are over 14 1/2 miles of road stretching throughout the nearly 200 acre cemetery. There are also approximately 370,000 permanent residents here. Some of the hills here created by glaciers melting over 12,000 years ago left behind hills that are almost 300 feet high. Some of the trees here are almost 150 years old. It is a very scenic park that offers a lot. Some of the old buildings have absolutely magnificent stained glass windows in them and the statues are very detailed and despite being old, still quite flawless.
