Stony Brook Park is a great place to get away for a day. At the beginning of the park they have concessions, bathrooms, and showers. There is also a humongous playground for the kids. At the beginning of the trail there is a stream fed swimming pool in the summer time of course. Within Stony Brook there is a West Rim Trail as well as an East Rim Trail. They will take you around the top of the gorge on either side. Be cautioned that to get to the top of both of them requires walking up more than a thousand steps it seams like and is extremely vertical. I am only forewarning you on that and not trying to scare you away from it, It is an absolutely beautiful walk. The other trail to take is the main gorge trail. this trail takes you along side of the stream and from waterfall to waterfall, some of which are close to 100' tall. Walk along the trail far enough and you will come upon the campsites. If you feel like being adventurous bring some shoes suitable for water and follow the stream even further to different waterfalls not on the paths. Just make sure you be careful because some of the paths can be dangerous. Have Fun!
